Vyapam Scam

Vyapam Scam

A tremendous fraud worth some $1 billion is unfolding in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. While shady deals aren't just unusual in Asia's 3rd biggest economics, the Vyapam scam-or the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board scam-is increasingly murky and scarier by the day. Since 2007, thousands of candidates in Madhya Pradesh have allegedly paid bribes to falsify test results for jobs. Numerous authorities representatives, businessmen and politicians are serving jail terms. Close to 45 individuals ( some estimates say the number might be 156 connected to the case ) have died in traffic accidents, or from disorders, or other unknown causes over the previous 4 years, and several whistleblowers are purportedly under threat.

These amounts come from a Special Task Force of the local government that's investigating the case, along with information from informants and media reports. There's no clarity on who's killing these individuals, and who all the assailants are attempting to defend. At the previous week alone, four people with links to the scandal have died. A Television journalist, Akshay Singh, who had been investigating the fraud, joined the long list of these who've mysteriously died. Singh, 38, allegedly started coughing and foaming at the mouth. He was hurried to the hospital, where physicians said he'd suffered a myocardial infarction.

This incident comes after the demise of associate professional assistant Narendra Singh Tomar, a suspect who'd been being held in Indore jail. While regulators claim Tomar, 29, also died of a myocardial infarction on June 29, his family considers otherwise. It isn't a coincidence that most the accused are dying of a disease or another. There is something more to it.
