Indian Space

A large part of India's aerospace expertise remains inside the India's Space Research Organization, but a commercial business carries on to be nurtured. ISRO created the Antrix Corporation in 1992 to market space along with telecoms products. It also established an insurance policy to encourage the industrial purchase of space technology parts as opposed to their production within ISRO. Today, about 50% of the ISRO spending budget goes to Indian business, although a following part can be used to purchase foreign equipment. Facilities building and development are often supplied by a different Civil Engineering Division of the Department of Space.

Antrix Corporation Limited is a fully owned Government of India Company under the administrative control of the Department of Space, Government of India. Antrix Corporation Limited was integrated as a personal limited company owned by Government of India, in Sept 1992 as a Promotion arm of Indian Space Research Organization. It also provide industrial exploitation of space products, technical consultant services and exchange of technology developed by ISRO. Another important goal is to ease development of space associated industrial capacities in India. Antrix can be supplying Space services and products to international clients worldwide, like EADS Astrium, Intelsat, Avanti Group, etc.

With fully prepared state-of the art facilities, Antrix is an one stop shop for any one of the space products, which vary from supply of software and hardware including simple subsystems to a sophisticated spacecraft, for diverse applications addressing communications, earth observation, scientific assignments, space associated service including remote sensing information series, transponders provision, launch services throughout the operational launch vehicles, mission assistance services, and a host of consultant and coaching services.

Over the last 10 years ISRO has built-up strong partnership with Indian business and some 400 Indian companies which now supply goods along with services into ISROs space program. ISRO is dedicated to forging strong relationships with academia to play a significant role in the expanding world space market.
