Parliament concerned for Personal Information Safety

The central government said that serious steps will be taken to protect the personal information of people's bank accounts, credit cards, Aadhar numbers and mobile numbers. Earlier, the opposition members raised the issue demanding a strict data protection law in Parliament. Subsequently, the Deputy Chairman also instructed the government to take a serious note of this.
 
On Wednesday, SP MP Sanjay Seth raised the issue of security of personal information of the people. He said, "Know your home address, phone number, mobile number, email id, marital status, income, occupation and financial status, or invest in bank and insurance companies, everywhere illegal business has started.” Seth said that many data broker companies have started. It sells your data to other companies by taking 10-15 thousand rupees.

Several other members including Naresh Agarwal, Neeraj Shekhar and Surendra Singh Nagar of SP also demanded to show seriousness to the government on this matter. Naresh Agrawal said that the central government should make a very strict data protection law, so that  strict action can be taken against individuals and institutions involved in such fraud. Especially when now the government has promoted digital transactions, it has become more important concern to address
