New Rule in Indian Army: Civilians to Get ‘Sahayak’ Post

According to a new system civilians are to be appointed as helpers or ‘Sahayaks’ for Indian Army in the peace stations. There was a controversy over appointing combat soldiers as ‘buddies’ to help officers and JCOs in peace areas; now these jawans will become free from this task as 10,000 civilians are going to take their places. The army headquarter has taken this step after consulting the defense ministry.

Bipin Rawat, the Army Chief General has said that the ‘buddy system’ is important for the operation of army during war. There are complaints against the officers that they are manipulating the system in their own favor.

The Army headquarter has warned the officers not to misuse their power. Several protests from jawans have created uproar on social media.
