RBI Refused To Replace Old Currency Till March 31

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) refused to answer the question that even after the assurances given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the people were not allowed to change old notes till March 31, 2017. On November 8 last year Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced the ban, after which people were allowed to change old notes till December 31. At the same time some people were given the exemption till March 31.

While refusing to answer the question asked under Right to Information Act (RTI) on the subject, the RBI said that under the transparency law, this question does not come in the definition of 'information'. After the assurances of Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Reserve Bank of India, only the notes of the NRIs were allowed to be changed till March 31.
