UNITED NATIONS HOLD CONFERENCE TO BAN NUCLEAR WEAPONS

United Nations Hold Conference to Ban Nuclear Weapons

United Nations have organized a conference for discussion on absolute ban on nuclear weapons; the conference is held with a view to issuing a treaty to forbid the use of nuclear weapons and gradually destroy them. India is not going to participate in the conference due to its own national interests, but it will keep close watch on the developments. India is going to make its standpoint clear by a comprehensive statement, which will be published in this week.

Niki Haley, the Permanent Representative of US has also declared boycott of the conference. She thinks her country cannot risk its security by dumping nuclear weapons, while some wicked powers can use it. She says that it will be good to have a practical approach. France and Britain have joined hands with the US. North Korea is keen on defying the UN rules and developing nuclear weapons. Pakinstan and China also abstained from joining the convention. Russia has stood against banning nuclear weapons.
