Muslim Personal Board Criticizes Ban on Triple Talaq

The Triple Talaq system is not going to see an end easily, as the All India Muslim Personal Board does not want the Indian judiciary to interfere into its laws. The AIMPB insists that before changing any personal law, the legislature should understand and respect the difference in culture, tradition and faith in different communities. The organization emphasizes that the judiciary should preserve the law of democracy and also that of different cultural and religious groups.

The AIMPB opines that India should not follow the example of other countries where Muslim laws are not accepted; India is a land of cultural diversity where every community has been preserving its heritage for ages. The court cannot violate the tradition of cultural practice.

Several Muslim women have stood up against the practice of triple talaq and polygamy; the Modi Government has come forward in their support.
