SINGAPORE HAS RESTRICTED WORK VISA FOR INDIAN PROFESSIONALS

Singapore Has Restricted Work Visa for Indian Professionals

After the United States, Singapore has restricted issuing work visa to Indian IT professionals. Indian Government complains that Singapore is not conforming to the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement. Tech giants like Cognizant, Infosys, Wipro, TCS and others have started their operation in Singapore. The Singapore government insists that the companies should hire the local talents first, if they have the desired capability.

The Singapore government has proposed Economic Needs Test (ENT) to issue work permit in the country for Indian nationals. Sources say that this step will restrict job opportunity for Indian professionals in Singapore.

The Indian authority says that no ENT or any other quota has been mentioned in CECA regarding the services mentioned in the pact; this is a clear breach of the pact, claims Indian officers. India will thoroughly judge the beneficial sides of the agreement, before thinking about further expansion of the same.
