Irom Sharmila Plans Her Party's Expansion in Assam

Irom Sharmila, the chief of People’s Resurgence and Justice Alliance, decided to say ‘good bye’ to politics, after the party’s defeat in Manipur Assembly Election in the last month. Now it seems that her hopes are revived; the party has started planning its expansion in the neighboring states, especially Assam. Sharmila, the Civil Rights Activist, will continue her battle against the Armed Forces Special Powers Act.

The PRJA conducted a meeting with the Assam activists in Guwahati; the meeting was fruitful and it led to coordination between the social activists of the two states. Now PRJA thinks of opening its Assam unit and participating in the Panchayat polls.

PRJA is also planning its expansion in other states of the North East, like Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya. James Mayengban, the party spokesperson says that the activists of the states should unite for the cause which is a common problem for all.
