Crack in the Manipur Government: Health Minister Resigns

Cracks have started appearing in the month-old Manipur government led by the BJP coalition. Jayentakumar of National People’s Party has submitted his resignation; he was in charge of four crucial departments including health in the newly formed government. His allegation is that the chief minister has made unwanted interference into the matters of Health.

It all started after the health director was suspended by N Biren Singh, the Chief Minister; the CM used his power of ‘the chief of the personnel department’ to execute his decision and did not think it necessary to consult Mr Jayentakumar. The Health minister felt insulted after the incident.

It was also reported that Y Joykumar of NPP wanted the charge of the Home department, but the CM chose to keep it with himself. The NPP MLAs are dissatisfied with their respective departments. The chief minister has rushed to Delhi to handle the situation.
