Snapchat Controversy Continued: Snapdeal Faces the Heat

The use of Snapchat has seen a sharp fall after the comment of the CEO regarding Indian economy and the future growth of the company; Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel says he is not keen on expansion in countries like India and Spain, which have a bigger ratio of poor people. The app is meant to be used by the rich, opines Spiegel. The comment has created huge uproar in India and many people have been uninstalling the app since they have come to know about it.

The report came from an ex-employee and the company later denied the comment altogether. Snapchat spokesperson has told the media that the app is meant to be installed for free and used by all. It has no discriminating outlook towards the customers, labeling them as ‘rich’ or ‘poor’; Snapchat is thankful to its Indian customers, says the company in an official statement.

However, the comment has created such huge outrage that many people have even mistaken Snapdeal for Snapchat and have uninstalled the e-commerce app!
