INDIA SUFFERS FROM STRESS AND DEPRESSION

India Suffers from Stress and Depression

The people of India contribute a big part to the count of depressed people in the whole world. The reports of World Health Organization are quite shocking. The number of depressed people, people suffering from anxiety and other mental disorders, suicides and suicidal attempts are consistently increasing in the South Asian countries including India and China. According to the WHO estimate, the number of depressed people was over five crore in India in 2015; the increase was 18.4% compared to the estimate of 2005. The insecurities of the modern world, increasing demand of material pleasure in one hand and scarcity of jobs on the other hand are creating a whole generation of confused and anxious people with self-destructive attitude. This is an alarming fact for a nation and the issue must get immediate attention.
